Recruitment Activity
The Neighborhood Christian Centers, Inc. is hosting our Annual College Rally and we cordially invite you to come and represent Jackson State University. You will have the opportunity to greet and meet potential students and distribute admissions information. We’ll have give away prizes and door prizes so bring paraphernalia. The date is Monday, January 27, 2014, Location: Neighborhood Christian Centers, 785 Jackson Ave., Memphis, TN 38107 at 6:00p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
Dinner With Derek~January 31, 2014 6:00PM-8:00PM
Come out and show your support for Dr. Derek C. Henson candidate for JSUNAA President 2014-2016. Come hear the plans and ideas that Dr. Henson has for our National Alumni Association. Dream Girls
JSU Memphis Alumni (Chuck Porter) daughter Kelsey Porter, will be performing in the upcoming Broadway style musical “Dream Girls”. The performances will be held in Nashville, TN, by Circle Players; on January 23 thru February 3, 2014. A flyer is attached which provides information regarding dates, venue, and ticket prices, etc. Additionally, they are currently exploring interest in renting a 55-passenger charter bus for members of our Mt. Vernon Baptist Church family, and others that may wish to travel from Memphis to Nashville and back as a group. Current dates being considered are Saturday January 25, 2015, or Saturday February 1, 2014, for 3:00 afternoon matinee. Approx. prices at this time are $50.00 round-trip, which includes $33.75 bus fare, $15.00 ticket price, and refreshments (based on minimum of 40 passengers). As noted in the flyer, groups of (10) or more tickets get a $3.00 discount off the ticket prices.
JSUNAA Memphis Alumni Biennial Chapter Retreat (Spread the Word)
JSUNAA Memphis Alumni Biennial Chapter Retreat will be held at Middle Baptist Church. The retreat will begin promptly at 9:00am on February 8, 2014. You will also get to meet 2 of the 3 candidates that will be running for JSUNAA President. The 3rd candidate will be flying into Memphis on February 9, 2013 and would like to do a meet & greet before traveling to her destination.
Community Event in Robinsonville
Velisa Woods (Alum) work with the Blues Belt Event Center located at 3468 Casino Way, Robinsonville, MS. They are planning a free community event February 15, 2014 for Tunica County and she would like for the JSU Memphis Alumni to set up a booth at the event. If possible, please let me know. A representative from Alcorn has agreed to do the event so she must have JSU there. Thank you!
Eyeglass Donations
If you have any old eyeglasses please bring to the Retreat so we can donate to the Lions Club.
Mid-Winter Council Meeting, Jackson, MS
February 28-March 1, 2014-Mid-Winter Council Meeting, Jackson, MS. I will be purchasing 10 Megabus tickets for the Mid-Winter council meeting leaving at 9:00am February 28 coming back Saturday evening March 1, 2014. Please let me know who wants to ride the Megabus with the President:) by midnight January 28, 2014. I would love to see 10-20 people attending the meeting. Let’s represent Memphis, TN.
Alum new to the City of Memphis
Alums please welcome Dorcas Nichole Kennebrew to our JSU Memphis family!! She’s a JSU alum who recently moved to Memphis. She’s excited about joining the chapter! So excited she has already paid her chapter dues……. Oh, she’s also ready to get involved with the chapter events. If any of you need assistance on your committee please contact Dorcas.
