Questions:
What is your favorite memory from JSU?
Oh, I have so many fond memories of my years at JSU: Spending time with friends on the Plaza and in the Student Union; my sorority sisters and the many friends I made across greekdom; my marketing classes in the Business School especially in Dr. J.R. Smith’s class; purchasing apples and diet cokes from Geishi’s truck; all night parties on the plaza during homecoming; getting soaking wet in the rain at football games; falling asleep in French class while I was pledging Delta Sigma Theta; meeting and forming a life-long bond with 24 of the most fabulous women I’ve ever met, my line sisters.
What do you enjoy most about being a member of JSU Memphis Alumni Chapter?
I’ve been a member of the Memphis Alumni Chapter for more than 30 years. What I enjoy the most is seeing the organization grow and evolve with each new group of younger alumni that joins our ranks.
Favorite rival game to attend?
For me, it’s the Southern Heritage Classic. I have attended every classic even in the years when JSU did not participate. It is quite impressive to see what that event has become. For my family, it is more than just a football game. It is a weekend experience where friends and family come to town to enjoy the city, the game and the associated activities.
Anything else you would like to add?
The love of my life is an Alcornite whose heart was broken when our youngest daughter chose JSU. That was one of my proudest moments. She, too, had a wonderful experience at JSU. We are also proud parents of a another HBCU grad of Hampton. I encourage all new students to embrace all the University has to offer. Expand their minds and immerse themselves in the learning environment.
