Scholarship

JSUNAA Memphis Alumni Chapter’s Book Scholarship Program is designed to acknowledge graduating high school students, transfer students, or upperclassmen in the Greater Memphis community who will continue their education at Jackson State University. Our goal is to recognize, reward, and assist students from this community who are persisting in achieving their academic goals. Submission of an essay and letter of recommendation provide testament to the character and abilities of the student.

Applications for Fall Awards should be submitted by August 1 and applications for Spring Awards should be submitted by January 1, unless otherwise stated by the local chapter. The Scholarship Committee will convene after the priority deadlines to review all complete applications. Be advised that incomplete application packets will not be considered for awards. A complete application packet consists of: a completed application, official transcripts, 2 letters of recommendation, a 500-word essay, and FERPA Consent Form. At that time, we will be selecting students for awards. You will be notified of the committee’s decision no later than 30 days after the application priority deadline.
Thank you for choosing JSU.

The Scholarship Committee has been working hard to efficiently steward and promote the chapter’s book scholarship program to students currently enrolled at JSU from the Mid-South area. The committee partnered with the Office of Undergraduate Recruitment in 2017 and 2018 to promote this opportunity.

As a result of the committee’s hard work and for the first time ever in the chapter’s history, the committee has seen a significant increase in the number of applications received. The committee awarded 8 book scholarship for Spring 2018 and 15 book scholarship for Fall 2018. Yes, this was a great achievement, however, the funds available for future awards has decreased. We need your help! In order to award any financial awards for Spring 2019, the chapter needs to raise $4,000.00

Please consider making a donation of $50.00 to the scholarship fund today!
